Do You Like Good Books?

I care a lot about literature and I really hope, with all the increasing numbers of indie writers that have given self-publishing a bad name, that you will consider reading my book. I have spent many years developing this storyline and it has been a joy to write it. I had a friend edit the book for me, and my wife played a part in helping to proofread as well. I don’t know that I worked out ALL the kinks (spelling and grammar), but I assure you that I worked extremely hard to make this book professional and legit. Unfortunately, I could not afford a professional editor, but my friend did a great job editing for me.

Anyways, I wanted to inform everyone who is interested that the paperback version of my book (The Alchemist’s Stone) will most likely be released later tonight. As I said, I love literature, and I hope the creativity and elegance of literature never dies. I worked hard on this book, and I hope you will consider reading it. I will post links to purchase the paperback later on and will repost the link to my ebook version. The links will be posted on my homepage as well. I greatly appreciate everyone who has taken an interest in what I have to say, and I hope you’ll take an interest in what I have written. It’s a hard thing to self-publish. I’m still learning how to promote and market, but I hope I’ll learn with time.

Book is Ready!

The ebook version of my book is finished and out there! Go check it out! The Alchemist’s Stone

Are You Ready?

The Alchemist’s Stone being part one of the series War of the Last Remnant may be coming to you later today 😀 Book is uploaded. All that’s left is the artwork, which I should receive sometime today. Are you ready to buy your copy??

It’s So Close I Can Taste It!

I have been doing my best not to keep everyone waiting. My editor has been tossing me stuff all day now, and I’m thinking we could be finished with this project by tomorrow! But I know Friday will be the latest, God willing! Needless to say, this book WILL be published by the weekend! I’m so excited!!! 😀

It Is Finished!

I have finally finished editing my book! I am very pleased with the way it all turned out too. I just sent the final copy over to my editor for him to review, so that means I will be publishing at the earliest by this weekend. At the latest, I will be publishing this coming week! Either way, this is one of the most joyful experiences of my life! Now I just have remember to be patient during these next few days of waiting. O.o let’s see how that goes!

I originally wanted to publish my book on the first week of July, but everything has been working against me to prevent that from happening. But oh well, I am still working as hard as I can to finish this up. I’m officially giving myself a maximum of two weeks to finish this book, edits and all. Again to all who are interested and plan to buy my book, thank you. This whole process has been a test of my patience but I think it’s almost over at last. I’m just excited to finally publish, and it’s driving me crazy!

Worst case scenario: This book will be published by the end of July. But I’m hoping it won’t take THAT long. God bless you all.

The Editing Process

I met with my friend on Sunday night to receive the edits for my book. Unfortunately, something went wrong with the file he did the edits on, so we are set back a little. Initially, I wanted to publish my book at the end of the first week of July, but I don’t think that will be happening. But we are working hard to get this thing going and finish up as soon as possible. Next week, I will be grinding out some hardcore edits. But we also have to slow down a little to make sure we don’t get sloppy. *Sigh* the process of editing a book can be really stressful at times. But I’m still really excited about this and can’t wait! Also, once the book is out I plan to release information on the inspiration for certain characters and background information to help make the story a little more interesting. I also plan to release updated editions later on with maps and character bios and what not, but for now it will have to be a little simpler. Finances just won’t allow me to do much more right now. But if things go well, then I will certainly republish with updates.

Anyways, thanks to all who are interested in reading my book and want to support me. Though it’s not released and no one has bought a copy yet, I am still grateful that people are open-minded about my book. Take care!

So Close

I’m meeting with my friend and editor today to get the edits and talk over the details of the book. So once I take those and input what I like and change up any grammatical errors, etc. then this book will be good to go! So excited and so grateful to all the people who have encouraged me, supported me and even helped me in the process. I want to thank my wife, Krystal, my friend William, my illustrator Duncan Long and above all God!  It’s so amazing to see my lifelong dream finally coming true!

The History of My Book

For any future readers of my upcoming book, I wanted to share some fun facts about the origin of this story:

It started out a HORRIBLE, immature idea in my tenth grade year of high school. I began writing during classes when I got bored. The original title of the book series was ‘Demon Hunter’ named after the metal band. The original plot was a huge knock off of storylines like Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy 7 as well as other various games. I used my loved for RPGs to develop a terrible storyline and I practically stole all of my ideas. Well, as you can imagine, that story quickly got away from me and since I didn’t have my own ideas, I lost interest and that idea burned. Later on, I changed the name to ‘The Dawn of Darkness,’ but as I played with the story line, I got frustrated and gave up. Then I renamed it to ‘Guardian of the Dragons’ Stones’ and the same thing happened. Then I changed it to ‘War of the Last Remnant’ and decided upon the first book title: ‘The Alchemist’s Stone.’ Something about that title and the name of the series stuck with me and I went with it. By the end of writing the book, I loved both names.

Originally, I used terms such as ‘Angels’ and ‘Demons’ in the story and there was God and Satan also in the story. As per my brother’s advice, I was inspired to create new names for these characters. I always wanted it to be known that they were angels and demons and God and Satan but in a much more subtle way. I wanted it to be more fantastical to keep in line with the overall story. So I listened to my brother’s advice and created the race of angels called the Celebhas in my book. When the angels fell and followed after the Dark Lord Abaddon (aka Satan), they became demons, which in my book I named Draemhas. In the story, I gave the name Vaaspar to God which means ‘Giver of all things.’ The origin of this name came from pagan decent and does not directly relate to the God of the Bible. I must stress that I DID NOT name the God character this to be sacrilegious or dishonoring to the God of the Bible in any way.  Rather, I liked the sound of the name and the fact that it meant ‘Giver of all things,’ which I think is appropriate for the God of the Bible. And the name Abaddon I gave to Satan, as the name means ‘the Destroyer’ and is actually mentioned in the Bible.

These are just some examples of the inspiration for names in my book. Other things came about from different animes such as Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto and One Piece to name a few. Other than that, I was greatly inspired by the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the various other works of J.R.R Tolkein as also by the numerous video games I played growing up, such as the Final Fantasy Series, Breath of Fire, etc.

I know none of this is necessary to understand the story, but I thought some might like to hear some of my inspirations. Plus it may help you decide whether this book is for you or not before you go out and buy it. Thank you to all who are keeping up with my site and also to all who may buy my book in the near future. Always feel free to comment or ask questions! I won’t ruin any of the storyline, but you can always ask me about writing, etc.
